Kayaking trip to Ekholmen with a favorite sandy island

Paddle to one of our favorite island Ekholmen with nice sandy beach and rocks perfect for picnic. You will pass by Stegesundet – a narrow channel between Skarpö and Stegesund outside of Vaxholm. This is one of the most charming and picturesque strait in archipelago with wonderful summer villas from the turn of the last century. Stegesundet strait is operated by Waxholmsbolaget and Cinderella ferries as well as by smaller boats. Waterway for ferries is very narrow so you should avoid is and obey water traffic rules.

You can even make a shortcut by paddling through top secret narrow channel between Vikingsborg and Stegesund. Channel was digged in the rock and is so narrow that only kayak can pass by when the level of water is high enough.

Due to the high water traffic with ferries and other vessels this route is recommended for more advanced paddlers.
