WINTER KAYAKING

3 hours kayak tour around Vaxholm

KAYAKING STOCKHOLM ARCHIPELAGO

Winter kayak tour around Vaxholm is a memorable and purely magical experience. Vaxholm is known as a capital of archipelago and kayaking is the best way to explore this wonderful place. Paddling is possible almost all year round. The archipelago is very lively in summer however during autumn and winter you will experience luxury of having it all to yourself.

Area around Vaxholm is among the most beautiful places to paddle. Admire amazing swedish nature and local architecture along the way and listen to local stories. Paddling around Vaxholm with the 16th century fortress and traditional fishing cottages, will give you the full archipelago experience. On the other side, there is one of Stockholm's largest nature reserves, which was once home to Vikings over 1000 years ago. We will enjoy the fresh, clear air and the view over archipelago that goes in pale tones. The silence will be broken only by the splash of water from paddles. Soak up the scenic winter views and feel immersed in the tranquility, despite being just 30 minutes from Stockholm.

We meet in our kayak center on Resarö island. After gearing up and short safety briefing we will explore archipelago by kayaks. We leave Engarn behind us and glide along the Resarö coastline towards Vaxholm or Bogesund Nature Reserve. Depending on the weather conditions, in the middle or after kayak tour, we offer a typical Swedish 'fika,' also known as a coffee break. We provide drysuit and warm drinks to keep you warm and dry during kayaking.

Our guides choose where to paddle based on their knowledge of archipelago, weather forecast and the sea conditions. Your guide will offer instruction on how to develop your paddling skills. We use single and double sea kayaks (depending on your experience). Doubles are incredibly stable and are great for beginners or if you just want to share the paddling.

And what can be better than winter kayaking followed by wood burning sauna and refreshing dip in the sea? Let us know while booking if you are interested in sauna after kayaking.
